Central Grampians

Central Grampians 15 Feb 2020 — 16 Feb 2020

Trip Leader Peter Upton

The Central Grampians has plenty to offer climbers at this time of the year. One of the days will be spent at Bundaleer, which is a great summer cliff. There are many crags that we can visit on the trip, apart from Bundaleer. Steve Toal’s new Central Grampians Comprehensive Guide lists another 123 crags. The other day’s plans will be disclosed to the trip participants later on.

The climbing at Bundaleer is very good. It is also well known as being quite atmospheric, especially in the lower grades. Easy trad classics such as Scarab (12)** and The Minch (12)** certainly feel a lot harder than their grades! The Frog (16)**, Basilisk (16)** and Odysseus (17)** all are memorable experiences not to be missed. Blimp (20/21)*** is one of the finest routes in the Grampians. If you’ve got some big cams, then maybe bring them along!

We will be camping at Plantation Campground, on the Mt Zero Rd, which is still free!
