Dyurrite/Mt Arapiles – King’s Birthday Weekend

Mount Arapiles 10 Jun 2023 — 12 Jun 2023

Trip Leader Stu Dobbie

The first King’s Birthday Long Weekend for many decades is soon to be upon us Victorians. Mark this milestone with a climbing trip to our best winter crag. (Note the corrected dates: 10th – 12th June.)

Dyurrite/Mt Arapiles can provide some excellent climbing days in winter. Depending on the weather, single pitch climbs are often the best option. These include the sun of Central Gully Left or go for a walk and climb at some of the more distant sun-soaked cliffs in the Northern Group and surrounds. The Watchtower Faces during the cooler months are great for working on your slab climbing – when they’re dry! Mitre Rock also provides many options to enjoy the sun throughout a Winter’s Day.

We will be camping in The Pines, close to the action. There is no better rock to fondle than the hard quartzite of Arapiles, so contact your Trip Leader, Stu Dobbie, to register your interest.

This trip is intended for all levels of climbers; however, Beginner spaces are limited by the number of experienced leaders who come along. It is recommended that Beginners contact the Trip Leader as soon as possible.

All intending participants must contact the trip leader prior to the trip. Please send through some details about your experience and climbing gear and hopefully we’ll see you there.

Car-pooling will be facilitated using a google spreadsheet for those who are interested. This is optional and each individual needs to make their own risk assessment regarding COVID and choosing to car-pool.
