Queen’s Birthday Weekend Tree Planting and Climbing Trip
Mt Arapiles • 9 Jun 2018 — 11 Jun 2018 9:00am
The month of June is a fantastic time to climb at Arapiles and also an ideal time for planting, with cooler weather and a bit of moisture in the ground. Why not come along and support the VCC and Cliffcare in helping to give back to a place that gives us so much .…
Plant your own tree at The Mount and watch it grow as you return in coming years! The Cliffcare Working Bee will happen on the Saturday morning, commencing at 9am. Once the trees are in the ground, watered and guarded we can head out and enjoy the climbing. We will be tree planting, mulching and tree guarding, with the locations yet to be determined. But most likely we will be planting some more trees and shrubs in the Pines campground, as well as in the and surrounds.
An old Greek Proverb says it all: “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”
The good news is that most of us will get to sit in their shade. This is an annual Cliffcare Event, and hopefully over time will make a real difference to the campground and its environs.
The Trip Leaders are Ollie Sherlock and Tara Laursen. Ollie and Tracey Skinner, from Cliffcare, will co-ordinate the Working Bee, while Tara will co-ordinate the climbing side of things. To participate in this annual event, please contact Ollie.
